Five Quick Questions with BMotion

Welsh drum & bass wunderkind, BMotion has a brand new remix of Moby’s A Simple Love on Viper Recordings dropping TODAY and he was kind enough to take a minute out of a very busy week to answer our Five Quick Questions.

1. How did the remix for Moby’s “A Simple Love” come about?

My manager Asad got in touch and said, “Guess what…..Moby wants you to remix a single of his!!” to which i said “noooooo surely not”, then i jumped around a bit and got really excited! But it all came through and i’m really pleased with the result!

2. What do you remember about the first time you heard drum & bass/jungle?

I used to sit in bed listening to Hype’s show on Kiss FM, having no idea what this music was or who any of the people were, but i loved it and wanted to know more. It took me quite a long time to find out that it was actually Drum & Bass and i never looked back.

3. When you DJ do you have a routine or superstition you must complete before you begin playing?

Not really, but i do like to have a shower before gigs so i feel fresh as these things normally happen in the early hours of the morning after travelling for a while, so i like to be fresh and ready to give lots of energy. Coffee is also good!!

4. Any crazy stories from your DJing gigs you can share?

I don’t think i have any crazy stories….I did go on the mic in Switzerland after a few fermented vegetable drinks one time after Katie from Koven put the mic in my face. So not crazy, but funny!!

5. Top five favorite songs of all time (doesn’t have to be dnb)?

These questions are always tough….

1. Earth, Wind, & Fire – September…Just an amazing song.
2. The Roots with Rising Up. One of the best bands I’ve seen live. There could be a couple from these guys but this one always sticks in my mind.
3. Serum – Rat Trap. I have this on vinyl somewhere. Used to rinse it in my mum’s attic!
4. Sub Focus – Follow The Light…Used to listen to this over and over and over and over…
5. Led Zeppelin – Ramble On…This always reminds me of summer days or driving along with a smile!

Many thanks to Viper and BMotion for taking time out of his day to answer our questions. Much appreciated!
