Pete Reilly – Drop The Sides (A Jazz Mix)

One of my favorite weekly reads is the Test Pressing blog. It’s been an inspiration and source for some of the music we’ve linked here in the past and they have stepped up once again.

On Saturday they uploaded a mix by Pete Reilly of Soul Jazz Soundsystem to coincide with the release of the cover art book Freedom, Rhythm and Sound BOOK By Gilles Peterson and Stuart Baker. The set is an interesting blend of mellower jazz numbers, rare groove, and a smattering of plain old soul (and listen for that well known flute from the Beastie Boys “Sure Shot” around the 18:40 mark) that clocks in at a little over an hour.

I’ve been loving on this for a few days and it’s worthy of a share.
