I’ve been sitting on this unbelievable gem for a few weeks, a live Altern-8 set from Liverpool on December 14th of 1991.

I should not have to say much here, for the younger crowd check a basic history. This set thankfully contains one of my all time favorite tunes, Infiltrate 202.

The Soundcloud page maxed out its downloads within the first day posted. Luckily, a friend was able to download and repost on mediafire. I haven’t gotten to do a tracklist yet, though it’s on my list.

Dreem Team – Essential Mix 1997

Originally recorded on Christmas Day 1997, this mix is the Dreem Team’s first appearance on The Essential Mix.

UK Garage was really in its infancy around this time, but its popularity was exploding and The Dreem Team were at the forefront of its transition into the spotlight. Originally rooted in a 4/4 “house-ier” garage sound, it became more of an R&B-fueled breakbeat in ’97-’98. The Dreem Team was at the head of the pack as they released dozens of mix CDs featuring their DJ talents.

I’ve tossed around the idea of a super jungle post for awhile and finally decided that it needed to happen. So I spent about five hours pooling a few of my favorite old school jungle sets from the last decade that I feel are really worth sharing. You can either download the sets individually from the links below, or you can yank them all as two big ass zip files at the bottom of the post.

The audio varies because of the age of the recording or the original source material. Some are encoded at really high bit-rates while others might have some hiss and pop. However all of the sets fall into the range of “good” to “great” sound quality.

I used to host this video on 31seconds.org for ages, until I let the domain name lapse. It’s the infamous “A London Somet’ing Dis” video, first tossed onto the Internet by DJ Aztec of Spiral Tribe back in the mid 1990s. The video was part of a BBC series in roughly 1994 focusing on street and urban music. All the big names are in it, in their infancy. Grooverider even sports a Gumby cut.
